I can’t help but get excited about the summer season. As we approach the longest day of the year, I am thinking about a world of possibilities for adventures with my canine friend. If you’re wondering how to make the most of this season with your canine pal, I have some fantastic ideas for places to go and things to do with your furry best friend!
Hit the Trails
Let’s hit the trails with our buddy! Hiking is an excellent way to immerse yourself in nature while bonding with your pup. There are many dog-friendly trails in Syracuse that offer scenic views and interesting terrain. Check out Green Lakes, Great Bear, Clarks reservation for a few to travel with your pet. The Adirondacks is relatively close as well and has many more trails that your pup will enjoy. Remember to pack plenty of water for both you and your dog, as it can get hot out there!
Summer Splash
If your dog loves the water, why not head to a nearby lake or beach? The central New York area is fortunate to have the Finger lakes, and Lake Ontario close by. Check out Mexico point, Sandy Island Beach park, Sylvan beach for sum fun in the sun. Many beaches have dog-friendly areas where your furry friend can splash and swim to their heart’s content. Just ensure that you follow any leash rules and be mindful of other beachgoers.
A more relaxed bliss
Are you in a lazy day summer mood? Consider exploring local parks or picnic spots where you and your dog can unwind under the shade of towering trees. Bring along a frisbee or a ball for when you in the mood for a short spurt of play with your pup. Then it is back to relaxing in the shade and cuddling with your pup and a book.
Local Events
For a change of scenery, you may want to take your pup to one of the many dog friendly events we have here. Know your dogs temperment though, as some animals may feel more comfortable sitting an event out at home rather than deal with crowds and leashes.
Road Trip
Finally, don’t forget the power of a good old-fashioned road trip!Load up the car with your buddy and any essentials and explore new towns or a campground to create lasting memories with your pup.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your dog, leash, and a sense of adventure, and embark on a summer full of unforgettable experiences with your dog. Remember, the most important thing is to cherish every moment and make the most of the incredible bond you share with your furry friend.
