I have a new opportunity that is exciting, if not a little daunting. I have joined with a number of other pet photographers from around the world for a global book project to support animal rescue not only in my community, but around the world. Since I have been selected, I have been busy doodling out locations for some of the photo sessions.
Drawing on community
Pet photography started as a need to help pet parents have the images of themselves and their pet. It was something that I missed out on. Images of our pets interacting and loving us as well as those showing off their own personality.
Over the years it became much more than that. Not only did I see that I could help pet parents capture those precious images. I could also help unite those dogs in need with pet parents searching for the pet that was going to make their lives whole. I started volunteering at shelters and have found my home at Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter. I have been so blessed to know that some of my images are what enticed some families to come to the shelter to look for their next fur-baby.
Not only did volunteering and photographing help me form new bonds between pets and their new fur families, it has helped me form important relationships with my fellow volunteers, local community and has grown to my virtual community of pet photographers. It is wonderful to find a community that is willing to share ideas on how to help fundraise to shine a light on pet rescue and bring them the support that is needed.
Now, I find that I have the opportunity to not only help my local community, but also help globally. To get to the goal, I need the support of my local community- YOU!

Sketching out the book details

There is a one pet limit per each artisan session for the book. I know though that this isn’t your whole family. and I am all about you having photos with your pet. Remember that this is your best friend, don’t you deserve to have pictures of your bond together?
Choose to upgrade your session to a full session experience for an additional $89. This upgrade will allow you to have the full session experience, include yourself, and other human or pet family members from the same household. It will also allow you to choose a date and location that suits your needs as well as the for the book. Photo sessions must be completed by July 15th. This is also a good option for families with reactive dogs that need more time, patience and quieter settings.
You will also receive $150 credit toward purchase of products as well as a consultation appointment to discuss the nitty gritty on what you would like to achieve for your artwork.
Those Doodled out locations!
Locations for the Artisan sessions are:
- Thornden Park
- Upper Onondaga Park

I have some other sessions under consideration for those upgrade session, but will discuss with those participants for what is appropriate for their pet.

Meet Boston James!

Boston James is 2 years old and this special guy is very smart, eager to please and loves to play with toys. He is looking for a home that can give him the daily exercise he needs, and then won’t mind when he cuddles on the couch with you at night. A cat free home without small kids is best for Boston James.
