The weather outside promises to be frightful this weekend with a sudden drop from 50 degrees to a cold 9 degrees on Friday with high winds. We have a promise of at least a little snow to take us to Christmas. When you’re not sharing some Holiday cheer with friends and family, I can’t think of a better way to get warm and cozy than to snuggle up with the dog and watch some Holiday Christmas Dog movies with your best friend.
Do you love the traditional dog heroes best, like Snoopy in “A Charlie Brown Christmas” or do you like the sweet but reluctant Max in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas?” Or maybe the comedic antics of a dog catcher attempting to catch dogs in a town with a no-dog ordinance is more your fare.
I wish I could snuggle with my dog Declan to enjoy the warmth while we watch these movies. Declan would not be comfortable, however. He would be on edge of the couch at the first sound of a dog, then he would be jumping off the couch and be barking at the tv the whole time. If I want to catch up on one of these movies, I will need to wait until he has decided it’s time for bed and takes his leave. My hope for your Christmas season is to have a nice and relaxing night to sit and snuggle with your dog to watch some of these Christmas feel-good dog movies.

Charlie Brown is discouraged by the commercialization of Christmas while his dog Snoopy decorates his dog house for the neighborhood lighting contest.
A Dog Named Christmas (2009)
The story of a developmentally challenged boy who convinces his family to foster a dog for Christmas, despite his father’s misgivings.
When this came out in 2009 Hallmark and CBS were inspired to work with petfinder.com and 2000 shelters and rescue groups to sponsor a “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays” campaign. This helped get dogs out of animal shelters and into warm loving homes at least for the holiday season.
Santa Buddies (2009)
Santa and his trusty pup are concerned about the Christmas icicle melting. Only boosting the Christmas spirit around the globe will keep it from melting. It’s the job for the trusty pup (Santa Paws) to reignite the Christmas spirit. If you like this one, follow it up with the prequel In Search of Santa Paws or the sequel The Santa pups.
The 12 Dogs of Christmas (2005)
A girl who brings together a group of schoolmates to help strike down their towns no-dogs law.
The Dog Who Saved Christmas (2009)
A former police dog ends up in the pound after losing his bark. Once adopted, his new mom is skeptical that he can be a watch dog since he can’t bark. Comedy ensues.
Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
The Grinch does not like all the holiday cheer in Who-ville and utilizes his loyal (but reluctant) dog Max to help him prevent Christmas from coming to Who-ville.
Christmas With Tucker (2013)
A boy finds friendship with a dog named Tucker after his father’s death.
Christmas Tail (2014)
Two single parents attempt to share custody of a puppy.
Up On The Wooftop (2015)
When Santa finds that his dog is missing, he needs to find him. Meanwhile his dog Toby is trying to convince the family he is now with, that he belongs in the North Pole.
