It is funny how just a little gesture can make a difference for an individual. I know it always makes my day when I come home from a long day at work and found that my neighbor snow plowed my driveway after a snowstorm. I also think of other instances when neighbors planned out a schedule to provide meals every night to a family who had a family member undergoing chemo. I believe that you don’t have to do much to make a big difference. A small kindness, word or gift can have a huge impact, not only on those you’re giving to, but on those who share your care. A donation to an animal organization not only helps the pets but also impacts the community and makes them feel less alone.
In honor of the large impact of little things, I’ve decided to hold a donation drive for:
Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter
Second Chance was conceived to bring both inmates and homeless animals a second chance at a better life. The facility is located on the grounds of Jamesville Correctional facility. For years the inmates worked closely with the rescued animals, training them to be better prepared for a future home environment while the inmates learned useful tools to carry them forward when they returned to society.
With the advent of Covid-19, Second Chance needed to restructure how some things were done, and currently depends heavily on foster parents. They continue to work closely with the city shelter to pull in abandoned dogs found in the city limits. The program is made up entirely of volunteers who are dedicated to find the right match for these homeless animals.
The Kia foundation
The Kia foundation was founded after the loss of a pet (their beloved Kia). Through their own tragic loss, they found the need to support families who were experiencing a financial burden to feed or care for their beloved pet.
The Kia Foundation’s pet thrift store supplies new and gently used toys. Profits from sales go toward the Furry Kisses Fund.
The pet food pantry provides animal guardians in need with the pet food they need to care for their pet. Your donation will benefit them greatly especially as families face rising costs of power just to keep themselves warm.
The Furry Kisses Foundation provides funds to people in need who are suddenly faced with unexpected veterinary bill.
I’d love for you to be a part of it! I’m doing this along with members of my Working with Dog https://marketing.workingwithdog.com/ pet business community to help animals in our own community and all around the world!
When our community provides essential supplies that keep pets fed, healthy, and happy, can devote their financial resources to things like:
- increased medical care
- outreach programs to promote animal welfare
It takes a lot to provide the basics of animal care. Food, treats, towels, cat litter, puppy pads and add up to thousands of dollars every year. So, I’ll be collecting the following to donate:
Wish List- Second Chance
- Nylon leashes
- Nylon Collars
- Easy walking harnesses (small and large)
- Peanut Butter
- Kongs
- Food Puzzles
- Training Treats
- Toys
- Dog Beds
- Seresto Flea and Tick Collars (small and large)

Wish List- The Kia Foundation
- Dry cat or Dog Food (they accept open or damaged bags as well)
- Special Diet & Grain Free Dog & Cat Food are always needed
- Gently used dog & cat accessories (bedding, toys, leashes, collars)
Let’s do this together!
Wouldn’t it be fun to fill up the organizations with heaps of presents all at once, to share the giving spirit and holiday warmth with everyone who works, volunteers, or visits that week.
As you head out to shop these next few weeks, keep this wish list with you. Purchase an item or two on each trip or go on a big shopping spree if you like.
How to donate:
I have decided to collect these donations during my Photo session Event Oct 29th & 30th at Jamesville Fire Station. I will be there from 10-4 each day. Whether you have a reservation for a photo session or not, just stop by to say Hi and drop off you donation.
How to share:
I’ll be sharing social posts in celebration as we grow our pile of presents higher and higher on those dates.
Please take a picture of your donated gifts on your own social media, and share! Follow my posts on Instagram and share, or post your own pics with the hashtag #mydifference4animals.

Meet Boss

Boss is a super friendly guy and had lived in a home with older children. He might do best in a home without small children. He would prefer a place without cats or dogs. Boss would love to get great exercise during the day, but will settle for cuddles at night. Please contact Friends of Second chance
