Taking the first step toward your Pet Portrait session: the Inquiry process

You have decided that it is time to book a pet portrait session, but you are not sure how to begin. Over the next 4 blog posts, I will take you through the process.

1.) Inquiry/Choosing your photographer

2.) What to expect at your pet portrait session- step 2

3.) what to expect after your pet portrait session- step 3

4.) Delivery and Care of your Artwork from your Pet Portrait Session- Step 4

Today’s post will focus on the Inquiry process:

You look at your dog and think- It’s time to get professional photos. Whatever the reason, whether it’s a new puppy, an aging dog or detailing your journey through life together. However you are not sure how to begin. Do you call any photographer or are there special ones that know animal behavior?

While many photographers love pets, a photographer that specializes in pets has experience working with a variety of animal behaviors and will watch for signals when the animal is getting stressed and adjust the photo shoot accordingly. At Nancy Kieffer Photography, I have worked with dog rescue for over 6 years and have been trained how to recognize and deal with difficult, fearful and reactive dogs.

So you have decided you want to learn more about me and my services. What is your next step?

A.)Simply click the button below and fill out the contact form.

The contact form will ask you a few basic questions like your name phone number and request a little information about you project. It will also ask you when would be the best time to talk about your photo session. I will schedule a phone consult.

B.) Direct Schedule a zoom consultation where we can talk face to face and meet each other.

From Inquiry to Planning your session

During our phone conversation/zoom meeting you will have a chance to discuss the different sessions available and what one best fits with your style and goal for your pet. We will have a chance to talk about the locations that would best work for you and your dog. We will also discuss your artwork goals for the session be it wall art or albums. Once we have had a chance to chat and I have answered all your questions. We will set a date and appointment time. I will either take your retainer over the phone or send you an invoice along with the contract. The date and time will be confirmed once the signed contract and retainer are received.

What’s next?

You will receive an email from me confirming your date, time and location. i will also include information regarding what to wear. If there are more questions, we can follow-up and complete the planning in another zoom meeting.

Then it is on to the fun stuff- THE SESSION! See what happens at the session during our next blog post.

Well organized post. Very clear. I also like that you always feature a pet needing a home at the end!

I so believe in rescue- so even if only a few see it- it just might be the right person.
