Chinese New Year of 2018 is the year of the Dog. When I thought about that topic for this blog, what immediately came to mind are the dogs that had an impact on me this past year. I decided to develop a collage of just a few of the shelter dogs that had an impact on me this past year. All of these dogs brought with them a set of challenges to overcome. Some dogs were used to running free, and had difficulty transitioning to being on leash, in a kennel or at a home. The officers, inmates and volunteers spend hours walking and training these dogs daily. They teach them basic obedience skills to aid in making them more adoptable. Everyone bonds with these dogs for weeks or even months with the goal for adoption. While this is what we pray for, ultimately that means we have to say good-bye. But we have been touched: By the soulful eyes, the joy of play, the peaceful cuddles, and the sad stories of the dogs in our care.
Here are some pictures of dogs currently at Second Chance looking for Homes.
PLEASE Come visit the Dogs of Second Chance Canine Shelter. We are open Saturdays and Sundays 10-2.
